Wednesday Closing

The Practice is closed ONCE a month for staff development and training. Our Doctors, Nursing and administrative staff do need time to train together, which is vital to improve service delivery. The next date is Wednesday 22nd February 2012. We DO NOT close on other Wednesday afternoons.

Cancelling Appointments
If you are unable to attend an appointment with one of the doctors or nurses, please telephone or use the link at the bottom of this page to cancel your appointment. By giving us as much notice as you can you are helping us to make sure that someone else is given your slot. Please note that the Practice has a policy for Patient who DO NOT ATTEND or fail to cancel their appointment. Patients who continue to DNA risk being removed from the Practice.
Please keep your appointment, don't waste it.

Emergency Appointments
If you require to be seen urgently, please tell the receptionist the nature of your request to assess the urgency. This facility is for emergency cases only and we ask you to not use this service for routine problems

Home Visits
Home Visits are reserved for patients who are genuinely too ill to attend surgery. Please telephone before 10.00am and be prepared to answer a few questions to help the doctors plan their calls and to assess the urgency. Please remember the doctor can see at least four patients in surgery in the time taken to do one visit.

Whooping cough cases increase

Dr Sheikh is our Senior Partner and clinical lead for Mansfield and Ashfield Clinical Commissioning Group

Dr Dean Russell Temple (m)
MB ChB (Leicester 1987) MRCGP (2007).
Dr Temple is our Executive Partner and is our clinical lead for CHD, CVD, Hypertension, Diabetes and Hypothyroid.
Dr Temple is also a GP Trainer. We have medical students at the Practice who practice under Dr Temple's supervision.

Mrs Debbie Lee (f)

Practice Nurse Manager - Mphip, Msc, RGN, DN Cert, ONC, ENB 937, ENB 870, Diploma in STIs, Diploma in Asthma.
Debbie is our Nurse Manager and is responsible for the management of the Nursing Team and Health Care Techncians at the Practice. Debbie also holds regular clinics for Diabetes, CHD Reviews, Hypertension, Learning Disability, Cytology, Contraception, Stoke and Childhood immunisations.

Jane Temple
CHD Specialist Nurse - BA (Hons), RGN, ENB 124, ENB 998. Jane holds a Diploma in Diabetes. Intermediate Life Support.
Jane undertake CHD, AF and Heart Failure reviews, as well as run clincis for Hypertension, CVD Risk. She is responsible for our Research and Audit and undertakes Teaching in Life Support.

Practice Nurse - RGN.
Jane holds a Diploma in Asthma and a Certificate in Family Planning. She runs regular clinics in Astham, Travel, hypertension, contraception, treatment room, cytology, CVD risk, Stroke Reviews, and Female Health.

Sue holds regular clinics for Diabetes, Treatment Room, Cytology, Hypertension, CVD risk, Stroke Reviews, Travel, Contraception and Childhood Immunisations.

Tracey Stent (f)
Health Care Technician. Diploma in Weight Management and NVQ Level 3. Tracey joined the practice in 2008. She is part of our nursing team and is one of two healthcare technicians at the Practice. Tracey has a clinic at the Practice to take bloods, assist with treatment room (dressings), ECGs, Spirometry, Cardio Call, 24 hour BP. Tracey also has a clinic for weight management.

Gail Straw (f)
Health Care Technician (NVQ Level 3).
Gail is part of our nursing team and is one of two healthcare technicians at the Practice. Gail has a clinic at the Practice to take bloods, assist with treatment room (dressings), ECGs, Cardio Call, 24 hour BP. Gail also has a clinic for weight management, NHS Health Checks and smoking cessation.

Rebecca Tate (f)
Human Resources Manager Rebecca has worked at Orchard Medical Practice since 1996. She works closely with the Management Team at Orchard Medical Practice and is responsible for supporting the Business Manager in the day to day management of the Practice. Rebecca leads on all Human Resources issues and is responsible for managing an experienced team of administrative/reception staff.

Administration

The Administration Team ensure that smooth running of the practice, this includes making patient referrals on the doctors’ behalf to specialist services.

Jane Hufton (f)
Jane is part of a team of experienced medical secretaries. Jane is also responsible for providing administrative and secretarial support to our Orthopaedic Treatment Service.

Cheryl Newbold (f)
Cheryl works full-time as part of our administration team dealing with the administration of Insurance and Other medical forms; Choose and Book appointments, photocopying of medical records for the Practice. Cheryl also works closely with the Practice Management Team in providing administrative support to its Orthopaedic Treatment Service.

Jayne Mallatrat (f)
Jayne deals with the many aspects of IM&T and Data Quality issues for the Practice. Jayne is also part of a team of experienced medical secretaries.

Lindsey Wright (f)
Lindsey is our Data Quality Officer and deals with the many aspects of IM&T and Data Quality issues for the Practice.

Susan Brown (f)
Su is responsible for may aspects of patient and surgery administration for the Practice.

Reception

Our receptionists will often be the first point of contact between you and the practice. They will be pleased to assist you with all appointments, requests for home visits, results and repeat prescriptions, registering new patients and answer your queries. Please try and be considerate and patient because at times they are extremely busy. Please do not be offended if they ask you questions regarding the nature of your call. It is to ensure they offer you the correct appointment or assess the urgency of your call.

Sain is our youngest member of the team and is currently our apprentice receptionist at the Practice working full-time.

Community Midwives

The midwife together with your Doctor provides ante-natal care for mothers before and after the delivery of their baby.

Community Nurses

Within the surgery the Practice has community nurses who are employed by the Primary Care Trust. Their role is to provide nursing care to patients who are too unwell to leave their homes and for patients who require treatment following a stay in hospital. These nurses work in close liaison with the doctors who refer patients to them.

Health Visitors

The Health Visitor works in partnership with individuals of all ages and with families. Information is provided on food health, including pre-school child development screening, assessing health needs and referral to other services as appropriate. Each Health Visitor is a registered nurse.

Counsellors

The Practice is able to provide patients with counselling sessions via Lets Talk Wellbeing Service. These counsellors can help with emotional problems such as bereavement, stress management problems etc. Your Doctor or Primary Health Care Team can arrange an appointment for you if appropriate. Counselling sessions are completely confidential.

Attached Staff

Working with the Practice are many other health and social care professionals who also provide care for Orchard Medical Practice’s patients. These include Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers as well as visiting consultants.
